Sometimes when you’re sitting at that computer screen it gets awful lonely. No amount of social networking or online chats will give you the companionship that you need and crave. Just tap this silver little pet and he’ll respond to your touch in all sorts of pleasant ways. Then when you’re tired of his bouncy little personality, you can force him to fall asleep.


These lights come in a blue and red form. Tap them once while they’re asleep and he’ll pop to life. You can also lightly tap him and make him wink as well as make him go a little crazy. Porn Detection Stick searches a hard drive for…you know

Just to let you know, one of the reasons why I reported on this device is because I wanted the hits that will occur from those who search for the word “porn” on this site. For those that are looking for porn, beware, because the Porn Detection Stick is going to find you out.

This simple device from Paraben looks like an ordinary USB thumb drive, and, when it is connected to the computer, it will search the hard drive for any pornographic material. It might take a while, as the company says that a 500GB hard drive containing 70,000 images will take an hour and half for a full search.

According to my Source, the Porn Detection Stick uses “advanced image analyzing algorithms that categorize images as potentially harmful by identifying facial features, flesh tone colors, image backgrounds, body part shapes, and more”. I’m guessing it uses whatever technology that screens for porn on YouTube. By the way, if you have deleted pornographic images in your Recycle bin, the Porn Detection Stick will sniff them out. In case you are wondering if the Porn Detection Stick can mis-detect, then you should know that it has a one percent false positive rate.

I can’t help but wonder what it would mis-detect as porn. This is the part where I’m not going to state the reasons why you would want to purchase the Porn Detection Stick, and just say that you can get it for $99.99.

Adesso CyberPad A4!

Adesso’s CyberPad A4 is not the iPad by any stretch of the imagination, but it certainly is useful.

I’m guessing the audience for this device is students or anyone else who has to take notes frantically in the classroom. I have found that a laptop or netbook is useless for taking notes when the teacher is drawing shapes and equations on the blackboard that will be on the test later.

Despite our technology, Pen and Paper is still the best way to go as far as taking notes in class is concerned. However, the CyperPad A4 is able to take whatever you want to write on its notebook better than a digital pen, and then saves it to its 32MB of internal memory.

If 32MB is not enough, then you can add on more with the integrated SD slot and reader. When you want your notes back, you can just connect the included USB cable to your computer and download the notes with special software. This included software can also translate handwriting into text.

Granted, the handwriting recognition isn’t always accurate. That, or I need to write a whole lot neater. Yes, I got a chance to try it out, and I might just start writing my entries with it.

The Adesso CyberPad A4 is available from the Adesso site itself, for a price of about $160. This price includes the software like Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0.

Thanko USB Shoe Dryers

Having wet shoes is never fun. It’s even worse when you’re going to need to wear them long before they’ll actually be dry. Thankfully now you can have these cute little pups to dry them out again. They’d work great for those of you that have to go for a decent sized walk just to get to work every day. For days when it’s raining you could keep these dryers in your desk and with these around, in no time your feet will be warm and dry again.


These USB puppies get their power from exactly where you might guess. Just plug them into your USB port and put one pup in each shoe. It’s all pretty basic. I’m not sure how powerful they are, but if nothing else they will help out the situation. In order to pick up the pair of these it’ll cost you ¥2,800.00 or right around $31 through Geek Stuff 4U.

Hands on with The Beamz Interactive Music System

So what is this man doing here? Would you believe that he is playing music?

I first heard about the Beamz Interactive Music System from the CES Show Directory, but I missed the chance to visit their booth. The company was kind enough to send one of their products my way, and I can honestly say that it is the only musical instrument that I will ever play.

Granted, it isn’t really an instrument, per se, but rather a device with sounds that the user activates by blocking laser paths. I can honestly say that I don’t have the patience for playing a musical instrument, and this is the first one I’ve seen that is easy to learn. It also has frickkin’ laser beams!

Set up requires three of the included CDs, and there is another tutorial disc. The CDs contain 30 original Beamz tracks that the user can play/improvise like a DJ, and I felt like the musical king after a few seconds of playtime on this.

The Beamz connects to your desktop or laptop with USB and takes of a lot of space. It reminds me of the helm of Galactus. To my kids, it is a toy, and one that was hard to pry them off of.

You should be able to get the Beamz Interactive Music System for $199.95 on the Beamz website. You can also get a more advanced version of The Beamz + Studio Software which is for $299.95.
